I never been there, but I know it's an awesome country with great culture and life style, I'm 1/4 Japanese myself, and wish to visit or move to Japan one day, I have many Japanese friends on Facebook and Instagram, They teach me more about Japanese culture and life.

So much depends on when and where you go, and what your expectations are.

    But in a nutshell:

    Some Pros:

    Safe, law and order society

    High quality products

    Great food

    TOP NOTCH customer service

    Superb public transportation

    Deep history/culture

    Comprehensive national health care

    Generally friendly people

    Beautiful mountains/countryside

    High speed internet infrastructure

    Clean streets and cities

    Some Cons:

    High to insanely high prices

Extremely muggy summers & heavy rainy season

    Diehard conformity uber alles

    Horrible noise pollution

    Lack of product variety

Small, cramped housing & poor insulation

    Densely overcrowded major cities

    Extremely bureaucratic

    Some lingering small townish attitudes

Flatline economy for over 20 years

    Dearth of media

So depending on what you are looking for, you could have a good or not-so-good experience in Japan. Most people should do pretty well over all though.
