Just wait to what we humans will do with genetic manipulation, artificial intelligence and nanotechnology in the next 100-200 years. We will expedite evolution considerably involving ourselves and perhaps other animals as well. It may not be magic, but it will be much faster than nature working its slow speeds. I just hope we don't do something goofy, like try to bring back master predators or the like and maybe enhance them with expanded intelligence. Who would be the dumb animals then?

It's because the dogs are turning to cats.

Cats and dogs are two different types of species. Life is made up of millions of different species, not as one whole species, that are unique and genetically and physically different from each other.

Cats can't evolve into dogs, because of their biological and genetic makeup - there's just no way, unless you count some freaky, underground experiment.

They come from two different branches of the Evolutionary Tree

No. Cats and dogs are much more closely related than that. They are both part of order Carnivora.

What you are describing is magic, or as Christians call it “goddidit”.

Magic aka goddidit has nothing to do with evolution.

    Nevertheless.....

Cats and dogs (and us!) have a common ancestor.

They can. Look at how fast we can change how one breed of dog into another. Take cats, start breeding them for dog characteristics and in 100 years of so you will have a cat that looks like a dog.

Why all the thumbs down? Aren't people able to imagine further than 100 years?? There has been life on Earth for 500,000,000 years. Plenty of time for things to change !
