Each cat is an individual. Gender does not determine personality, or different personality traits.
I would find two cats who are already a bonded pair, meaning they are already friends and already wanting to be adopted together. I would also recommend you look for an adult cat, not a kitten. Kittens need more care and attention, but they also can't be left alone for a very long time because they are so small. Kittens also don't have their personality figured out, so you might get two kittens who love to snuggle with you, but as adults they would rather play with each other. If you find two adult cats, they should already have their personality figured out, so a snuggly cat at the shelter will be a snuggly cat at home.
