The Bible teaches that women can own things of their own and have a job if they want (Proverbs 31:16, "She appraises a field and buys it; from her earnings she plants a vineyard."). Of course, however, it IS the man's role to work and take care of his wife and kids. However, women are not forbidden from working if they desire. Also, the Bible itself teaches that its citizen population needs to be educated. For example, in the Bible it implies that people will need to be able to read, Habakkuk 2:2, "And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it." Another example is Exodus 24:12, "The LORD said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain and stay there so that I may give you the stone tablets with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction." Here's one that implies that we need to be able to read in order to read the scripture, Acts 17:11, "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." There's no way to search the scripture daily if you can't read... Women need an education just as much as men do friend.
