Restaurant meals are pretty much all garbage, unless you're going to a $150 a plate place. Seriously, they all want you to believe that they are hand-crafted, family-style places made by gourmet chefs...it's an overweight cook named Paco who never went to culinary school in his life. All the meals are chalk full of preservatives, sugar, and salt to make it taste good and made in bulk.
People eat out for convenience and because they can. Eating at home is not only a great way to save money, but also a way to add and take away and make a recipe your own. Anyone can cook with some discipline and reading skills. It's really not that hard to do. If you start simple, like pasta and jarred sauce, how is that hard? Then you can try to make your own sauce and adding a meat. I was NOT a great cook in my early 20's, that's for sure, but now, you give me 6 things and I'll make something awesome.
It IS cheaper and more wholesome to eat in and make yourself a meal.
