First of all, salt is good for us, and we need it. Eating pink salt, dead sea salt or even regular table salt isn't going to harm you. What messes us up is all the salt in canned foods, boxed and bagged foods, frozen meals, etc. Look at the labels. It's crazy!
I dont buy any of that stuff, and i eat fresh foods. I use pink Himalayan salt liberally. And as much as i want which probably adds up to 1/8 - 1/4 a teaspoon a day. Eat properly and you won't have to be concerned about salt.
On high cholesterol -- doctors lie about high cholesterol and the truth is, if our cholesterol is high, oh well.... without cholesterol in our bodies, we'd be dead. And the medications they prescribe for high cholesterol can cause HEART disease and heart problems (yes you read that right). Big pharma is making money and making dangerous drugs.
