How many osmoles will be formed when you put 0.5 moles of MgCl2 into the solution?

    If I understand your question:

    MgCl2 dissociates:

    MgCl2(aq) → Mg2+(aq) + 2Cl-(aq)

    1 mol MgCl2 produces 3 mol ions

    0.5 mol MgCl2 in solution will produce 0.5*3mol = 1.5 mol ions in solution.
