    for me i think rock n' roll is the rock style that started all rock generations is the rock of the 50's mostly from (1954 to 1962) it's the era of original rock or it's name: rock n' roll music. other rock styles started from 1963 with the British rock envision. many rock styles born on the mid 60's such as blues rock or white blues or blues boom and folk rock or flower power and later on the 60's psychodallic rock become on top of rock music. in the very late of the 60's hard rock groups take their chance to create the style and heavy metal born and become new world of music. also prograssive rock become famous rock style and also country rock was a successful style. NWOBHM on the late 70's and heavy metal born again early 80's power metal, trash metal and glam metal created and later on early 90's death & black metal created and also Gothic and progressive with symphonic metal also jump on the world of rock music. rock is a name for big family of great music. it's the music of ROCK.

    Rock & Roll is a term usually used on older styles of rock, where as rock usually rafters to heavier styles but technically they can be interchanged
