You NEVER NEVER NEVER don't tell your insurance company everything. You have a RELATIONSHIP with your insurance company, JUST as you do with your lawyer. To lie, hide, conceal or even to OMIT anything within such a relationship is to betray it. There's a Logic to this: In Law you have a special, legal relationship with only a few people in your life. You can tell anything to your priest or lawyer and they keep it an absolute secret, even if your secret is murder. The Law cannot break this confidence. So you must always confide in your lawyer the absolute and whole truth. Your banker has a legal obligation to keep confidential your finances private!; however, were you to tell your banker you'd murdered, he'd be legally obligated to report you. You can't be forced to testify against your spouse even for murder and in the US (only) you can never be forced to testify against yourself. Your insurance company needs to know everything and could drop you for concealing it.
