Say the letters of the word socks and you have got a start. It means, "It is what it is".

I started Spanish when I was 22. Now I am 79 and I use Spanish every day but I will never be good enough.

I bet you would like to know as much Spanish as I do.

So you could be any age from 18 to 80 or more! And it depends what you mean by "fluent". Easily able to cope with daily life in Spain, buying train tickets, etc, or able to contribute to a deep philosophical discussion?

If you are on your deathbed, you are too old to begin learning a new language. Otherwise, there is no limit.

I'm 60 and still learning to speak Spanish

Depends on how talented you are to learn a new language, how eager you are, and the language itself of course.

Sure, younger people generally pick up these things quicker... But I learned a new language well in my 30's. I'm reasonably proficient at it, too.

If you really want it, you can do it.
