It depends on if it is true that Trump is telling lies. When Trump was first elected, NPR went into detail about what exactly is a "lie". Making a false statement may or may not be a lie. A lie is when a person purposefully makes a false statement for the expressed purpose of deceiving someone in order to obtain a secondary gain. That is a lie. But if someone spouts false information without knowing it is false, or without doing it for any kind of secondary gain, is not a lie. It is instead simply false information.
For instance, if Obama has said that he will conduct his campaign in all 57 states, that is a false statement, but it is not a lie, as it is only that Obama is misinformed about how many states the USA actually has.
