Kurds are an ethnic group, not a religious group. Kind of like Palestinians - they're an ethnic group made up of people form various religions. The majority of Kurds are Sunni Muslim but there are also Christian Kurds, Zoroastrian Kurds, etc. Below is a good article from the Washington Post that explains who they are and their history.

They are, very largely, Muslims. There are a few small sects that are Christians, but the vast majority of Kurds are Muslim.
And yes, they are good friends and allies of the US.

Yes, for sure, Kurds are Muslims whether in Iraq, Syria ,Turkey and Iran. having total population of around 15 millions.
Being friends to USA, is another political problems.

Kurds are the best
Kurds are not just Sunni Muslim
There are Christians, Zoroastrians, Jews and even Shia among them
Their passion for freedom unites them

Kurds are part of an ethnic group within the middle east. The widespread religion within the middle east is Islam, so Kurds are generally muslims, although many are of other religions.

They are Muslim like Mexicans are Catholic. Some take it very seriously and others do not.
