Is there an easier way to attach a button than sewing it on?

    You could stick it on with hot melt glue. People do that for ornamental buttons that don't actually fasten to anything.

    A few years ago I saw ads on TV for a gizmo that punched little plastic links into cloth, to hold buttons and sequins and stuff. This was back in the 70s when that was popular, to decorate clothes with buttons and other stuff. Wait, let me look. . .

    Try Gorilla Glue. It is even stronger than KRAZY GLUE.

    In theory, you could have a button attached in the way grommets are attached, with mechanical pieces that fit into each other through the fabric, I guess. Good luck finding that or inventing it. But in a practical answers, no. The button has to be durable enough to withstand stress. No glue or tape will have that kind of flexible strength.
