Democrats won the midterms as predicted.
It probably wasn't to the magnitude that many Democrats were hoping for, but nonetheless they flipped the House, netted 7 governorships, and saw many liberal ballot initiatives pass (including in red states like Missouri and Arkansas, which voted to increase the minimum wage, and in states like Idaho, which voted to expand medicaid).
Some people will point to the failure of retaking the Senate as evidence that the Democrats lost or under-performed, but the reality is that the Senate always was a long-shot. There were only 23 safe Democratic seats compared to 43 safe Republican seats, so incumbent Democrats were facing many more contests nationwide than Republicans were.

The Democrats, big time. Took the House, turning over close to 40 seats. Turned over 7 Republican Governorships and 6 Republican State Houses. Republicans are chortling about the Senate but most Senate seats weren’t up for election this midterm. We’ll take that too in 2020.
It’s a huge win because McConnell doesn’t get to rob SS and Medicare to pay for the 1% tax breaks. Trump can forget about his wall. Democrats will work on that tax bill they passed for the rich and Republicans can forget repealing Obamacare. Now we can fix the problems in Obamacare without starting over. Then, there’s likely impeachment after Mueller’s report.

The Democrats - and the American people.

The right. We have some bills the senate needs to pass and more trump judicial appointments and more bureaucratic positions

The Democrats. Any claims that the Republicans won because of retaining the senate is an overly simplistic claim and ignores the complexity of senate elections in comparison to the House---Democrats also won most of the senate races, they just had more seats from the class which was up-for-grabs to begin with.

There is something not quite right with the mid-terms. I'm content, but something is off about it.
