Of course, because those at the top of the society determine which genes are considered good.
Think about aggression. If your poor, it means you are a criminal. If you are rich, it is avarice. If you are crazy and poor, you're insane. If you are crazy and rich, you are eccentric and think outside of the box.
Good genes are ones that help an organism thrive, but because we have a society, we "choose" which traits thrive. Someone who is obese today, has the same genes their ancestors did, but where food is abundant now, it makes a "failure" of an individual, whereas way back when when food was scarce, those genes made a success of an individual. People who are addicts now, were the adventurers and explorers back then. Which genes are good, has more to do with the current environmental and social landscape, than the genes themselves. Sure, no one wants the genes that makes you more susceptible to cancer, but that doesn't really get factored out of advanced social and economic families.
