How to keep lightened hair brown?

I dyed my hair months ago and long story short really messed it up. I’m naturally a light/medium brunette. To fix my hair my stylist had to lighten it and then toned over it with brown to match my natural. It looked great at the time but as I wash my hair the brown toner has faded, and now I look more like a dark blonde than a light brunette. Is there any at home treatment I can use to keep the brown tones in my hair as it grows out?

Well your hair dresser or as I call it hair messer has only used toner. She is an idiot. Maybe they do that to avoid liability for shitty results. Try a l'oreal excellence ashy light brown like their number 7, no darker, and you will be light brown.

You can use an at home semi permanent color that is the same shade as your natural hair. It might end up a bit dark, you could go a shade lighter without it looking weird.

You could also go to a salon and have them permanently color your hair to match your roots, so you have your natural color back. I would not use a permanent hair color at home, if you mess up you are back in the same position you were when this started.
