What are some literary devices that are used within "The Complete Short Stories" by Ernest Hemingway?
As far as I can think of, I can mainly notice the way Hemingway uses diction in his writing and symbolism but I'm comparing his novel to Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried" so I'm trying to think of another literary element. Any help? (Explanation would be very helpful too!)

My copy has somewhere in the neighbourhood of 50+ stories in it. Read a handful of them and you'll be able to recognise a few. There are so many classics in there. Obviously they were written at different times and there's a great deal of variety when it comes to the style.
