The Waco Siege began when a UPS worker accidentally dropped a box, splitting it open, and found empty grenades inside. He alerted the authorities, who began an investigation into the recipients of the package. Those people were the Branch Davidians, a radical offshoot of the Seventh Day Adventists, which, under the leadership of David Khoresh, had become a doomsday cult. The Davidians were stockpiling illegal weapons to prepare for a coming apocalypse. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, in cooperation with local authorities, decided to raid their compound. One of the local cops tipped off a reporter about the upcoming raid, and he went out to see if he could see anything. He got a little lost and a passing motorist stopped to help him. He told the guy that he was looking for the Branch Davidians compound because there was going to be a raid. This motorist happened to be on the ruling council of the Davidians and he high tailed it back there to warn them that the cops were coming. When the ATF and police showed up the Davidians opened fire on them, prompting a lengthy siege. The siege ended with the Davidians setting fire to their own compound, killing most of the people inside, including many children.

Oklahoma City grew out of the Waco Siege, and also the Ruby Ridge siege, wherein the FBI had a deadly standoff with white supremacist Randy Weaver and his family. Timothy McVeigh, a former soldier, was outraged by both sieges, which he saw as illegal violence by the government against its own people. He became consumed with rage and a desire for revenge, and influenced by the neo Nazi novel The Turner Diaries, he got the idea for blowing up a federal office building in Oklahoma City

The Davidians didn't set fire to their compound moron. The tanks, tear gas, and flash bang grenades set off the gas lines in the building.

Far right religious wacko Koresh got his followers killed just like Jim Jones did. Funny I've never heard of Black Muslims doing anything remotely this bad, or the Black Panther party.

Waco they wanted to arrest one guy for marrying under age girls. They were religious and it played a role.

OKC was a strike against the government. Tim McVey wasn't religious, in fact he described himself as an agnostic. He had a problem with Ruby Ridge and Waco (and several other moves) even though he didn't identify totally with either group the government went up against.

FBI and DOJ overreach and abuse of authority .

The FBI could have picked up Koresh in town or at his job at the college and spared all those lives and McVeigh would have had no reason to seek retribution .

The nation would be a much healthier place if we can all admit this tragedy was entirely the Clinton administration's fault and the direct product of grossly poor management .

Source(s): Disgusting that Libs defend burning women and children to death while claiming to be " women's advocates " .
