"They do it because you let them", what's the concept of this?

    It's the same idea as "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". The idea is that you can't let people abuse you or walk all over you. If you allow that, it will never end.

    It depends on what you’re talking about. The first thing that comes to my mind is bullying and not standing up for oneself.

    It's the concept of, people doing what they are allowed to get away with because the person they are doing it TO or the person who could forbid it, didn't say "no" or "stop".

    Example: People take advantage of you, because you let them. If stopped saying yes, and told people no and didn't allow them to have something for nothing, from you, you wouldn't feel taken advantage of.
