My friend made the gut wrenching decision to say “goodbye” to her baby at just over 20 weeks. Yes, the baby was variable out of the womb. No, the baby had zero survival chance. She was delivered early and died during delivery. She didn’t have an actual stomach, kidneys were non/functioning, heart defects, and she had other suspected defects (such as blindness). The parents spoke to four different docs before the decision was made to bring on early delivery. All the docs suggested abortion as to legally end the life before delivery, instead of taking the chance the baby would be born alive and suffer till death. It’s a decision that should be made in the doctor office between patient and doc. Politicians need to stay out.
