The vast majority of Yahoo account holders use aliases or abbreviations of their real name, to use as their account name/email. It's often recommended not to use your actual name as an email address, unless it's for business (many companies require their employees work email address be their first and last name, first initial and last name, or first name and last initial).
I have one email address that uses my initials and last name, but it's for important correspondence such as when I'm job hunting (need a formal email address on your resume) or corresponding with a business. For all casual email, I use an alias that is just a 'fun' made-up identifier.
