My computer only has five apps on it, but it has 25/27 gigabytes used up. Can someone please tell me how to free up space.?

Dump pictures, videos and music to online or external storage options for a temp fix.
For a long term fix, buy a larger hard drive.

Find the Microsoft Disk Clean up program. It is part of the Windows OS so you have it already on your computer.
Choose the disk you want to clean. It will be C. Click OK to run the program. When it finishes click on clean up system files box. (It is the system files that are probably taking up most of the space especially if you ever upgraded from one OS to a newer version) Click OK and let it run the second time. When it completes it will give you a list of what you can delete and how much space each file is using. Put a check in the boxes you wish to remove. HINT check all of them. Click OK and windows will remove those files. This may take some time depending on how may gigs are being removed.
This will free up space.
