How is that different from welfare?

It's expensive. Markets shouldn't define people's basic necessities.

If all of the sudden everyone has more money, then they can just raise prices on everything.

It's a lot cheaper just to build someone a home than give someone money to go buy a home from someone else.

I'd be more in favor of better safety nets than simply giving people money.

And if you give someone a home, you know that your efforts would be successful in giving them a home. If you give them money to buy a home, they might spend it on something irrelevant to a home.

How many times and ways do we have to prove that giving people something for nothing leads to them doing nothing about anything . . . it's ridiculous.

My bet the 50% is the same 50% who do not pay taxes

Welfare as a safety cushion is essential, but subsidizing those who fail to produce anything of value is foolish indeed.

If you pay people to not work, that is what you will get. All the spin and specious arguments in the world will not alter human nature.

50% approval of universal basic income can only be coming from 2 places. Either fron your socialist club or from your anal orifice

It could end homelessness, but only if we closed the borders and deported illegals. It could be a stop gap measure until we get on our feet again. Then just let the people that need it keep it.
