Why do most luxury cars come from Britain and Germany?

Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Land Rover all originate from, are headquartered in, and are assembled in the United Kingdom.

BMW, Mercedes, Maybach, Audi and Porsche all originate from, are headquartered in, and are assembled in Germany.

All these brands are luxurious, and they make luxury saloons, coupes, four-wheel-drives and/or grand tourers.

How come British and German car manufacturers make very luxurious cars?

Why aren’t Italian, Japanese, French or Korean car manufacturers as good at making luxury cars as the Germans and Brits are?

The only other country that comes even slightly close to Germany and Britain when it comes down to luxury cars is Sweden, buts that’s only because of Volvo, and although Volvo’s are luxurious and can compare against Audi’s and Jaguar’s, they come no where near Maybach’s, Rolls-Royce’s or Bentley’s.

Hi so as it is about quality that costs money. this is reflected in how and the time being allowed to assemble such cars.

production line techniques don't allow for some one taking care when assembly is taking place. so you also need to pay for a man with skills as well.

    Another British name is MORGAN.

Many of these makers have their origins back in Victorian or Edwardian times (1880 - 1910) where quality and fine engineering were paramount. They didn't just build something good it had to look good as well. Look up British Victorian sewer works Pump houses to see the quality of the build.

Another comparison is Britain and France built the Concorde, the USA built the 747.

I'll take a Lexus over ANY European car any day. The reliability is far superior to any other brand. That's the problem with European cars. Sure, they're luxurious and expensive, but not reliable as a rule.

Based on history, Europeans have always had great public transportation, primarily trains. Cars were considered a luxury that only wealthy people wanted and could afford. The general public didn't need cars.

By contrast, the U.S. never developed internal transportation on the scale of European countries. Common citizens wanted and needed good inexpensive cars to get around. Henry Ford gave it to them.

Therefore, Europe and the UK built cars for the wealthy and the U.S. built cars for the common man.

Well,it's a historical problem. The result of eveything existing in this world has its deep root in its history.Things do not come out of nowhere, but they establish themselves on the basis of development.Development needs support from outside, such as financial condition, technology and so on.All these factors come down to the whole thing----National Strength.

National Strength is made up of a lot of essences, such as experienced technicians, financial condition, advanced manufacture and technology, etc. Why do German and Britian own most of the luxury cars worldwide? The answer is"THEY OWN THE TECHNOLOGY MUCH EARLIER THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD!" As we all know,Cars are invented by German and Britain is the pioneer of the first industrial revolution. No matter whether you believe it or not, these two countrites own the technologies and the resources that can make people become fast-movers.

Luxury things come from the basic things as well.As long as you own all these resources, you can make up your own brand as a pioneer.

US car manufacturers were asleep and allowed this to happen. They made crappy cars for many years and now are paying the price. Years ago, the Cadillac was the sign that you made it to the top. That is no longer the case.
