Should we temporarily Shut Down The Internet so that no crazy maniac can learn how to Print a 3D Gun and go Shoot Up a School?

If someone is going to do a mass shooting, I would hope that a #D printed gun is what they use. Most only work for one shot. Sometimes you might get lucky and get a second shot. But you have to stop and load the second bullet. Usually the second time it blow up in your face. I guess I would rather then spend the money to buy and print a one use gun instead of taking that same money and buying several guns and dozens of rounds of ammo to use instead.

If they want to et plans for printing a #D gun they are available places besides the Internet.

You could get the instructions mailed to you so close down the mail and all parcel services as well?

The plans could be on a thumb-drive so those will need to be banned as well.

Bulletin boards used to work without the internet. Probably best to ban phones and fibre connections.

My personal view is that it is not a good idea to allow people to 3D print guns. However, look on the bright side. The guns will probably explode in use so they will not be used too often by the same person - even if they survive!

    And then what?

frankly it's not all that difficult to do. And then there is the glut of US machine tool capacity, that will be put to use manufacturing firearms of traditional types. It's not as if there are not a dozen other ways to obtain a firearm. And one that is considerably more lethal than most 3D prints currently.

No point. Survivalists are familiar with the old ways of dial up connections. They are prepared for the shutting down of the internet which is one of the first things that happens in times of war. So they can still send the instructions to each other if needed.

Sounds like an idea the typical left wing school shooter would dream up.

That would be impractical. Several guns can be bought for the price of a printer.

Ridiculous question - but here's a fact for those that don't know: Shooting a 3-D gun will destroy it. If you're lucky you'll get 2 shots out of it. Hardly the tool for a mass shooting...

You don't need internet access to print a 3D gun.
