    Use "nd" because the word "second" ends in nd.

    The ending of this type of ordinal abbreviation always matches the ending of the spelled out word.

    Never in over 60 years in Britain have I seen 2th. Always 2nd.

      I think this is meant to be funny. It shows the variety of usage of numbers in English. Sometimes this may be very complex.

      in Russian, one --- two--- two, three and four--- and five and above --- are grammatically different. There is even a word for one, meaning "alone" in plural form.
