Of far more concern, to me, is the fact that you plan on getting two puppies at the same time. Forget about the kitten, which may or may not work out with a puppy, if you haven't yet done any of this, choose the breed you'd prefer and concentrate on locating a reputable breeder (who don't allow a novice to have two puppies at the same time in any case). And go to the relevant Breed Club for the names of good breeders - Breed Clubs have Codes of Ethics which should rule out BYBs becoming members.
You do need to avoid a breed with a high prey drive much as again, my neighbour always had sighthounds who lived side by side with her 3 cats. Even if one did, as a puppy, catch and kill a feral kitten she didn't know was around her property!
