Why is the skin on my hand continually peeling?

So I will mention I did get sunburned on my hand about 2 weeks ago on July 7 and I just now noticed it started to peel.

Of course I know I shouldn't be picking and/or peeling at it, but I noticed that when I started peeling it, it would not stop and it would continue to come off of other areas that weren't really sunburned, so why is my skin peeling further than it should when picking/peeling at the white stuff? Also, is it normal for it to peel further than it should?

Also, I know I'm not the only one whose peeled skin after a sunburn before. I got sunburned on my forehead once where it started to peel where I picked at and weirdly enough, picking at it actually help. I don't know why though.

Skin peeling after a sunburn is normal -- regardless of the area. It's a healing process.
