Which maked more sense: the universe starting off simple and becoming more complex OR something as complex as God being created at once?

It's not a matter of which makes more sense or what you want to believe, it is a matter of what we have objectively verifiable evidence for. If it helps, think about a murder mystery where it makes sense that the Butler did it, and yet if you follow the evidence, you find that it was the gardener. If you had gone with what "makes sense", you would have arrested the wrong person.

We have solid evidence that the universe and everything in it formed naturally, but when we look for any evidence of God we find absolutely none. When we look at the evidence for the Bible, we find that it has about the same accuracy of a fiction book, a few historical people, real places, real cities and countries, but nothing that suggests the rest might have happened.

    Edit:

On the other hand, if an all powerful, infinitely complex god could just exist without need of creation, then anything less complex is much more likely to exist without need of creation.

Hoping the fine creationists will read this.....the simplest Configuration for creation was right at the beginning where only extremely high heat existed and particles started to form from the cooling result. Electrons were free, not able to bind to other particles. The heat didn’t drop sufficiently for binding for 300,000 years, then photons were able escape. We see this 'first scattering' fossil as the cosmic microwave background radiation. We took pictures .

This is observed. It took gravity tens of millions of years to form the first generation stars.

    Either is reasonable.

Think! Think about the most complex man-made artifact of which you are aware.

    - Personally I think of the Space Shuttle.

Wasn't that extremely complex thing "created at once"?

BUT...please be aware that Christians do not believe that God was created.

The one that's true, the non god involving one.

The god version has him appearing out of nothingness (impossible), creating everything out of nothingness (impossible), then tricking humans into not believing in him by making a 6,000 year old universe "look old".

Although the concept of an eternal God may be hard to grasp, we can see that it makes sense.

If someone else had created God, that person would be the Creator.

as the Bible explains, God is the one who created all things. Furthermore, we know that the universe at one time did not exist. Genesis 1:1, 2

Where did it come from? Its Creator had to exist first. He also existed before there were any other intelligent beings, such as his only-begotten Son and the angels. Colossians 1:15

Clearly, then, he existed alone first. He could not have been created; nothing was in existence that could have created him.

Our own existence and that of the entire universe testifies to the existence of an eternal God.

The One who put our vast universe in motion, the One who established the laws to control it, must have always existed.

Only he could have breathed life into everything else.

How so hard to believe God created the world within you through your eyes.
