Can I stay out past curfew if I’m volunteer?

So the legal curfew for minors in my state is 10:00 PM on weekdays and 11:00 PM on weekends. I Volunteer a couple times a week, and I may be asked to stay and volunteer later than curfew allows. Is this legal since I’m volunteering? I know that it’s legal if you’re a paid worker but I’m not sure about volunteers. Just wanted to check so that I don’t stay out too late.

Depending on your state, probably yes. Juvenile curfew laws make exceptions if you are going to or from work, & makes no distinction between paid & volunteer work. Work is work.

In my state, yes. It would be considered "work."
