Are these sentences grammatically correct?

a) When Charlie was under the bedclothes, he could hardly breathe.

b) His parents’ bedroom door was always left ajar.

c) When Charlie went into his parents’ bedroom, his mother switched on the bedside light. (light)

d) Charlie went downstairs to drink water and to have a snack. (snack)

    Yes, they are.

    However, your last sentence is a little stilted. Most English speakers would say "Charlie went downstairs for a drink of water and a snack."
