Find a local gallery and ask if they would consider showing your work. See if there are any cafes or shops near you that feature the work of local artists - for example there s a coffee bar in my town that has rotating art on the wall and it's all for sale. You sometimes have to be put on a wait list for a spot to open on the wall. The gallery or shop will often take a commission of 10-20% of the selling price of your work. If your town has any festivals, see how much it costs to rent a booth there so you can show your work and sell it. In my town we have a "Founders Day" festival every August with live music, street food, stalls set up by local artists, businesses, jewelry designers, etc.
Most people who want to buy paintings go to where paintings are being sold - galleries, auction houses (for famous artists), cafes/bars featuring local artists, arts & craft shows, etc.
