How Messed Up Is The NFL?

Jameis Winston has a history of criminal and antisocial behavior dating back to his time in college yet he's given a mere 3-game suspension, for groping an Uber driver, and is contracted to make $20,000,000 next year.

Colin Kaepernick has, arguably, more talent as Winston and has committed no crimes, yet he's a pariah simply for protesting against police violence.

The NFL is a league that punishes players for expressing an opinion while rewarding sociopaths who do not respect anyone or anything. How messed up is that?

It's pretty bad. While you use Kaepernick as a comparison, I would put it like this, Winston will be suspended for 3 games (somehow this number came down from 6) for groping an Uber driver while Brady got suspended 4 games for not cooperating with the league for an investigation the league couldn't prove in federal court over suspicion of deflated footballs.

And to think, I thought how the NCAA handed down punishments was bizarre, the NFL takes it to a whole new level.

What galls me is that Winston's punishment was, originally, a six-game suspension but the league agreed to cut it in half if the boy apologized to the driver.

But if you read that apology, the boy doesn't admit to doing anything wrong. Instead, he says that it was "uncharacteristic" of him and implied it was because he was drunk. Then he goes on to say that he's disappointed in the NFL's decision. So how in the f*ck is that a suitable apology?

And the league didn't address, at all, his shouting homophobic slurs at passers-by while he was in the vehicle. How the f*ck is that appropriate behavior for an NFL player?

The bottom line here is that Winston shouldn't have been allowed in the league to being with but owners and coaches are willing to overlook criminal behavior if they believe a player can help them become competitive. Tampa Bay and the teams of the AFC North are notorious for signing thugs and degenerates.

Kaepernick is unemployed because of blowback from his protest. Owners are afraid that signing him will result in financial losses, so he remains unemployed. If Winston comes back and the Bucs begin winning, he'll keep his job. If he comes back and the team struggles, he may not collect that $20M next year.

It's hard to say what is what with these accusations.

The first accusation comes from a drunk girl in college who alleges Jameison Winston raped her while she was passed out drunk. People who saw her with Winston have claimed she seemed drunk but coherent. There are also claims that the police did not do enough in the investigation.

Now he's being accused of grabbing a female uber driver by the crotch. Although this probably did happen, there is again no third-party present and so it's her word against his. Uber drivers sometimes record video inside the car for liability reasons and if she has a video that would be strong evidence against him.

You have to keep in mind that his athletic ability in college would have allowed him to have sex with hundreds of girls if he sought out every opportunity. Now he's a wealthy Quarterback in the NFL and his celebrity status has risen to the point where thousands of women are willing to have sex with him just to be with someone famous. He's not used to women saying no.

If we're going to talk about "toxic masculinity" then we need to also talk about women who are skanky sluts.
