Why do people blame the US for slavery when it was Britain who started the African slave trade in the first place?

If Britain never instigated it, slavery would have never existed. America was a product of Britain and Britain-born people were the ones who started America so slavery just happened to be one of the things that were happening at the time. Thomas Jefferson even wanted to write in the Declaration of Independence that it WAS, in fact, Britain’s fault slavery existed but the other Founding Fathers wanted no mention of slavery in the Declaration of Independence. So even though the Founding Fathers had slaves (which was instigated by Britain) they at least had SOME disgust for it for not wanting it to be in the document that founded the nation of the US.

If Britain never started slavery, it would never had been a problem in the US. Why do people blame the US for slavery when it was all Britain’s fault to begin with?
