It is a combination of centuries of mapping from the Babylonian Empire (BC). then the Classical Greeks, nd Phoenicians, the Roman Empire mapped the Mediterranean region.
Regions outside the Roman Empire were referred to as 'Terra Incognita' (Unknown Land).
As the World was explored the regions of 'Terra Incognita' became smaller.
The 'Mappa Mundi' (Lat; World Map), was drawn in the 13th Century. It is in Hereford Cathedral an England.
Mercator the Dutch Geographer & Navigator created the first 2-dimensional paper map in the 16th Cent.
Magellan, Drake, Capt. Cook as they explored the world enlarged the map.
Central Africa, The Arctic and Antarctic regions remained 'Terra Incognita', unmapped until the past 150 years.
Today all the world has been mapped, it has been done by numerous explorers and people over the centuries, so no one person created a map.
