It is simple. There is (was) no war. So, there is no peace agreement.

It's actually really, really simple. Russia wants clear access to the Black Sea, and that's pretty much the size of it. Mostly for oil.

Disagreements and tensions have existed between Ukraine in Russia for much longer than 4 years, but "hot war" is indeed recent.

Just remember that Ukraine was part of pre-communist and communist Russia. In fact the people who started off the (at the time small) country of Russia did so with Kiev as their capital. Ukraine only became independent (along with several other countries) after communism collapsed in Russia around 1990.

In much of Europe there have been huge changes many times throughout the ages. Countries have come and gone, borders have changed many times. And there has been ethnic tension with no regard to country borders. Actually it would be more accurate to say that countries have been established within certain borders by rulers, with no regard to the ethnicities within those "countries".

Cause Ukraine is greedy and us refusing to let the ethnic Russians ins Eastern Ukraine be a part of Russia.

  • Because Russia is occupying large tracts of Ukraine. Putin is extending his empire westwards and increasing his influence by fixing the US Presidential election and the EU referendum in the UK. If we give in to that megalomaniac, he'll try to take over the world.

The war is being fought by independent Russian forces...ahem.. who are, according to the Kremlin on holiday and fighting as a hobby. And they have been on holiday now for.. er....4 years.

Putin and the Russian government have absolutely nothing to do with the conflict, or the tens of millions of dollars worth of high-tech Russian military equipment currently being used by the rebel forces. In no way whatsoever do they condone, promote, logistically supply or finance the conflict on their doorstep, being fought in their political interest.

It's purely a Ukranian problem because they are being run by evil neo-nazis who prefer trading with western Europe rather than with the Russian Federation. Moscow would of course love to help Ukraine resolve it's situation but it's a Ukranian internal matter and none of Russia's business.

If Ukraine were to reach out to Daddy Putin and ask for his help, then all Ukraine's civil war problems could be made to go away. The price is merely an entire third of Ukraine's sovereign territory.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine why Ukraine just doesn't want to negotiate a settlement....

Because Russia wants more Ukrainian territory, while the Ukraine would like the parts of itself that Russia has stolen back, as well as reparations for the Russian invasion.

Putin is still denying Russia has anything to do with that war.
