Was there a lot of ignorance and supersition during the Middle Ages when Christianity dominated the Western world?

    Just the opposite. Truth reigned supreme and the people were largely successful and at peace with each other and with God. Not so any more!

    There is a lot of ignorance and superstition today, just look at the amount of space in magazines etc given over to astrology and new-age nonsense and look at the widespread ignorance of scientific matters.

    Society was ignorant and superstitious, yes. Not because of Christianity.
