An easy way to think of centimeter:

Cents are like Pennys, they are 1 cent.

100 cents = $1.00

Same way, 100 centimeters = 1 meter

6 cm vs 600 m

Which is greater 6 cents, or $600 dollars?

THIS IS NO ACCIDENT, our US money and metric were standardized by the US, with US help, in the 18th century. They are based on each other!

Along the same line, mills are 1/10 of a Cent, or 1/1000 of a dollar.

Mills are still used in the USA in tax evaluations of real property.

Think millimetres = 1/1000 metre

It's where we get the 9/10 at the end of our gas prices!

FYI: the international Metric Standard spells the length 'metre'.

A meter is a 'device' that measures something, like a voltage meter.

So not are we using the metric system, we even spell it wrong!
