See if you can get the cameras hard drive, sometimes that will have your media stored.

Unless you can download those files straight from the device, yep, you are pretty much screwed.

    Unless someone else recorded it

(and you really should do Everything Possible to find out),

    yes, you are screwed.

Maybe the instructor can offer you an alternative way to get the material.

IT MIGHT STORE IN ITS DEFAULT FILE, TRY ALL THE FILES.

OR YOU HIT THE WRONG BUTTON WITHOUT ACTUALLY RECORDED AT THAT TIME.

Are you SURE that the lecture actually recorded, my young friend? Have you played back the recording?

The following page on the Sony website, for the ICD-BX140 MAY help you. There are manuals/guides, and How To & Troubleshooting tips that MAY be able to help you.

Have you tried going online to your university’s website or library to see if maybe the lecture was recorded. When I was in college, most of the big classes’s lectures were recorded and I can go to the library and ask for the video.
