Nope it used to promote it! Until Republicans made it seem evil to help fellow citizens through taxes!

No. Taxes are the price of government. The country can't exist without a government. No one likes taxes but sensible people understand the necessity. Most Americans are sensible people.

I think we should have a tax on holding money only. The only way to do this would be to put all money on one monitored electronic exchange. People will be taxed based on the size of their bank account. This will encourage them to invest in themselves, property, or shady activities. Or maybe we could go the opposite and tax all trades like sales tax now, but since it is all electronic you cant hide it with cash. Either way we need to get rid of all the different kinds of money. Gift cards, apple pay, wechat pay, check, wire transfer etc. Pain in the a

Taxation to support national enterprises that are too large for the average person to handle themselves is not a bad notion, Especially if prudently spent.
Taxation to redistribute legitimately earned wealth is against the American spirit. It stifles the impetus to acquire wealth, but more importantly it discourages the motivation to produce value for the national economy, when you work hard, and don't get to keep what you worked for.

Taxes collected and spent Constitutionally do not but today's excessive , widespread taxes on everything that is then spent on abortion , supporting deadbeats and given as gifts to Iran as well as other 3rd world countries sure does .

In the good old days, we didn't need taxes to build and maintain our roads. Elves did it for free.
