Help with grammar!?

I'm working on a paper and I need help with the correct wording of my opening sentence. Would it be "a name which connotes" or "a name that connotes"? Thanks for the help.

These days, use of "which" is being minimized and, for that reason alone, "that" would probably be better, if not best.

It's possible that "a name connoting" is the best choice, but without context, everyone is just guessing.
