By Trump Claiming He Has Authority to Grant Himself a Pardon, Doesn't That Prove That Trump is an Evangelical Christian?
As we know, an Evangelical Christian thinks, if he has an extreme emotional upset, that means he is "saved." Once he thinks he is saved, he believes that there is nothing he can do that will jeopardize his eternal salvation. Thus, the core and the essence of Evangelical Christianity is the believer presuming to pardon himself for all his own future sins. Trump has just bought into that, by claiming he can pardon himself, thus is applying the Evangelical Christian standard to his own performance as President.

The Donald is not a christian of any type. He only panders to them. Money & power is his god.

It is obvious that the questioner knows nothing about the beliefs of Evangelical Christians and therefore this question is moot and unanswerable.

Did Putin tell him he had any authority? Surely Trump does Putin's bidding and that is why he is attacking the West?

What it proves is that he anticipates that he's going to be convicted of a crime he committed. There's no other reason why he'd even bring it up. It really has nothing to do with religion because as already mentioned the man is not religious.

Constitution says he can still be impeached if he could pardon himself, though, and he can only issue pardons for federal crimes. I'm sure New York would have enough to lock him up.

No. Trump is the POTUS. He actually does have the power to grant presidential pardons. Although, technically he can, I guess it's considered bad form to do so for oneself and it would piss off a lot of congressmen. But when has that ever stopped Trump?

Not at all. Evangelicals believe that God gives them pardons for their sins because they are believers. Trump isn't an evangelical. Trump thinks he's God.

Indeed. The only thing missing is the claim that Jesus has already pardoned him.
