I agree with Liondancer. To add my two cents: Bear in mind that fancy moves or techniques seen in movies or exhibitions are oftentimes very exaggerated in the name of showmanship. This isn't to say that if there is some basis in "real" techniques that the exaggerations couldn't be toned down should actual martial application be necessary, but once someone trains so diligently to perform a move a certain way, it is difficult to change it up on the fly; it's like the story of Seabiscuit and how the horse was trained to lose prior to becoming a champion.
The problem therein, though, lies in the fact that many flashy moves have no martial application, and therefore, would be useless in a real fight. Think "XMA" or flashy wushu sets. The first question should be if the move has any basis in reality. If not, then likely, no.
