Getting from Sutton to Camden?
How should I go about going from Sutton to Camden, London? Tube, train or bus? From the national rail site I think that it was much cheaper by train than by tube. Is this correct? Thank you

You could go from Sutton to Balham by Southern rail, then take the Northern Line (Elephant and Castle - London Bridge - Bank) tube to Camden Town.

The difference is due to the train route avoiding zone 1.
It is possible to go from Sutton to Camden Road station by changing at Clapham Junction and at Willesden Junction. (Using a Southern train and two London Overground ones). This incurs a zones 5 to 2 fare (off-peak Oyster fare £2.70). If going this way make sure you swipe your card on the pink readers when changing trains at the junctions, as otherwise the system will assume you went via zone 1 and charge the higher fare.
It would probably be faster to go from Sutton to Camden Town by changing at Balham to the Northern Line, but as that route passes through zone 1 it would incur a zones 5 to 1 fare (off-peak Oyster fare £4.90).

There is no train all the way, though you can get most of the way by Thameslink. This is all within the London Zones so just get an Oystercard and it will cost the same whichever way you go.

Use an Oyster Card rather than paying cash fares. You can get a through Thameslink train from Sutton to Kentish Town which is close to Camden Town, or a Southern train to Victoria and then the Underground (Victoria Line to Euston then cross platform change to the Northern Line to Camden Town Station)
