What was the French mandate of Syria?

Please don’t use complex words….I am only in middle school. Thank you :)

    after World War I, the defeated Turkish Empire was carved up into new "countries". These new "countries" were overseen or managed by the victors in the war -- principally France and Britain. Syria & Lebanon were managed by the French. [Iraq, Palestine, and Jordan by the British] {KSA (Saudi Arabia) became independent on its own in 1920, despite British desires to the contrary.} {Armenia chose to join the USSR at this same time.}

    You should read your text so you really learn something from someone who knows what they are talking about. you don't know the qualifications of the people who answer on here.

      While the text book set by the school should be used, answers received here can add valuable advice, but which should be checked with the school text books or/and school-recommended websites.
