I believe what Jesus said about the two alternative destinations for those who have died physically. That's in Luke chapter 16, second half but there's too much to copy here.
I believe what He said as recorded in John 5:24-40, part of which states:
"Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life... a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out - those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned... diligently study the scriptures because by them you possess eternal life. These are the scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life."
This agrees with the much more ancient scriptures written long before Jesus came to Earth. Ecclesiastes chapter 12 concluded that, at physical death, the spirit returns to God who gave it, then we have to account to God for how we lived in the flesh. This also agrees with the last book in the Bible which depicts that time of resurrection and judgment of the dead. It's detailed in Revelation chapter 20. Again, far too much to copy here. Have a read for yourself if you want to know. I'm now going to move this out of Polls & Surveys, where someone put it, back to Religion & Spirituality.
