If you include "Souvenirs" as plunder the Americans did a lot of plundering in Japan. Many of the ancient swords Stolen have retail values of well over a million dollars as do many of the jade items taken .

Yes in fact a lot of riches was plundered from overseas and smuggle back into the US. A matter of fact I know a few grandchildren of World War II soldiers that has their great-grandfather's smuggle weapons that was broken down and put in different items to be reassembled after it reach the United States here right now.

The US only got involved in WW2 because the Japanese attacked their military instillations in Hawaii. The US had remained neutral until the end of 1941 when it realised the war was going to be against them and they could no longer hope that they would not be affected. Germany declared war on the US shortly after the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbour so the US had no way of avoiding the war from then on.

From my understanding the US did very well out of manufacturing during the war and actually came out of the war fairly well off economically as before the war many were still struggling to find employment from the great Depression which enveloped the US right through the 1930s, but the need for massive manufacturing to sell weapons to the Europeans for their war gave many unemployed the first proper jobs in over 10 years. The war likely really set up the US for the very prosperous period it had from the end of the war to the late 70s.

The Germans and the Japanese plundered for the riches of the countries they invaded, and yes I am sure some allied soldiers raped women as many likely believed they were going to die anyway so felt they may as well get some sex along the way. The allies overall did not plunder or rape on the scale of the Germans and the Japanese, although many German women were raped by the Russians as they invaded Germany likely believing it was OK as it was revenge for the raping of Russian women by the Germans when they invaded Russia.

The US troops and its allies fought for world peace. They kept very little of what they liberated and assisted the people of those countries after the war. Japan and Germany were given a huge amount of help by the allies to get their economies going again after the war as they feared a dissolute population just left in their ruins could end up with warlike dictators or communism taking over and the world could be soon at war again as happened with Germany after WW1. The one thing the US did gain was technology and they took German technology back to the US especially rocket technology. They also gave the German scientist the opportunities to escape war trials in exchange for working for the US to improve these technologies and the NASA space program was successful because of the German scientists they took to America. America returned as much art and riches stolen by the Germans as they could and did not take any of it back to the US with them.

Baloney. Lots of Hitler's personal art was stolen, as was his globe from die Berghof, & at least one of his 6 supercharged Mercedes limousines. All were brought to the U.S., where they've been sold & re-sold many times although all are legally the property of the German government.

Looting and rape were prosecuted as criminal offenses by the US military during WW II. That is not to say it never happened, but both the US and British military kept their troops under much greater control than Germany, Russia, or Japan.

While morality isn't regulated by either of the conventions, being absent from both suggests a tacit approval of the acts of the soldiers. A late female friend who lived in Berlin in 1945 volunteered to be a cook for Soviet officers expressly so she wouldn't be used as a sex toy by Red Army men.

Considering how many Nazi items ended up being brought back, I'd say the plundering focused on whatever items they could lift and hide on the return voyage.

In history many soldiers were poorly paid, or not paid at all, thus had to take what riches and sexual jollies they could as those riches etc were available.

In WW2 American troops were better paid than British troops, and had access to cheap goodies in their PX stores. It was said that the price of a woman was a pair of nylon stockings, or, in Italy in 1944, a can of food.

or for the rest of the world, freedom. Society has forgotten that the theme of America is FREEDOM. Sad to say, we're losing it one idiot liberal idea at a time.
