We do not know how the universe came about, how big it is, how old it is and whether there are other universes. Of course many people believe that the universe began with a big bang, and all the material within it flew apart, but it is just a theory and no one can tell you what causes the big bang, and what came before it. As any scientist will tell you, we know a lot less than what we do not know about nature.
Evolution is different than the big bang, because the earth is a lot younger than the universe, since the solar system is formed by the remains of a star that existed before it. Therefore whatever happened here on earth has nothing to do with the origin of the universe. Casting doubt on the Big Bang theory will not falsify evolution since there is a mountain of evidence supporting evolutionary theory and since it is the only logical and rational explanation for all that we know.
For those who think that there was a creator for the universe, the problem is that if there is a creator, then who created the creator, and who created the creator of the creator of the universe? That means if the universe was created, then there is an infinite number of creators. If the creator does not need to be created then one can argue that the universe does not have to be created either.
