According to a Houston newspaper average starting salaries of new police officers ranged from $26,600 to $49,500.
The starting pay for deputy US Marshals is at step 1 of G&. That is currently $47,500 BUT they also get a percentage depending on where they are assigned/live. In my city they get an 18% boost plus they get about 10% of their salary as OT even if they do not work any OT.
Their uniforms and all of their equipments are provided for (except their shoes.
Their training is 22.5 weeks.
Cops in my city start at $49,000. They pay for all of their equipments except for their badge, wooden baton and two full magazines of ammo. They spend 24 weeks in the academy.
The curriculum at FLECT is low on academics compared to our police academy. FLECT is harder physically, lots more PT, lots less law, psychology, community awareness and handling of non offenders is taught to our cops.
So your suppositions are false, You are ill informed.
Cops get to do a lot more good than just providing security for Federal Courts, transporting prisoners (actually done by civilians in much of the US), finding people who have warrants and hiding people.
Everyday cops save marriages, get kids out of harm s way, keep people in their community safe and do actual police work. Deputy Marshals do get to do any of that.
