Though the house might be abandoned, the house is owned by someone. You would need to go to the county recorder's office to find out the owner of the abandoned house.
You might also see if this information is available on the county web site, as most counties have listed the property owners on their web site.
You would be required to contact the owner and see if t he abandoned property is for sale or not.
If the property is for sale, you might make a an offer to the owner of the property.
Even though the property might be abandoned, the owners might not want to sell the property as it might be a family site.
You might also check with the county assessor's office to see if the taxes are current. If the taxes are not current, you might consider waiting until the next tax lien sale and make a bid.
If you are the successful bidder, you would not own the property for a year or two based on the tax sales law of your county. You would not be able to improve the property or reside in the property
The owner of the property normally have 2 years or so to pay the taxes current. Since you have paid the taxes,d you would be paid the taxes as well as the penalty the owner is required to pay for the taxes being delinquent.
After the redemption period is over, you would be issued a deed by the county indicating you are the new owner of the property.
I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.
